WHAT IS DIURNAL SKY?

Diurnal Sky is the personal and business website of Bruce Boe. The name was chosen as it mirrors Bruce’s interests in our marvelous, ever-changing skies.  While diurnal sometimes denotes daytime activities or cycles, it also refers to daily cycles such as the diurnal rhythm of thunderstorms and the daily motion of stars and celestial bodies across the sky.  This website embraces the broader, around-the-clock meaning.

Bruce’s career in Meteorology began in the summer of 1974 with an analog X-band weather radar, a collection of “Super-8 mm” video cameras, and a dial-up link to a computer. In the 52 years since, he has worked on every continent except Antarctica, conducting meteorological operations, research, and lecturing. He has flown extensively in wintertime and summertime research and operations, collecting and analyzing cloud and storm data.

Through Diurnal Sky, Bruce shares his interests and creativity, and becomes available to help with your meteorological projects in a variety of ways.
